A show of total disrespect

I am lead to believe that things are not going well within the halls of Somerton Town Council.  It would seem there is a select number of STC members who are plotting against the very well respected Chair Dean Ruddle, who over his years of tenure has done all in his power to improve the community by bold leadership and his seat on County and District councils. There are similarities here dating back to the Paddy v Hopewell days, with apparently various attempts to undermine the position and respect the Chair holds. It would seem to be all very underhand and in my view, not in line with the Code of Conduct.

What is the reasoning behind this power play?

I suspect that certain STC members wish to oust Councillor Ruddle come the scheduled re-appointments on STC in May 2020.  I also suspect, that due to the growing number of members who hold close interests and links with the Recreation Ground Trust and the Arts Council, that come the power-play in May for positions of STC Chair, STC Vice Chair and Committee Chair's they will try to divert your hard earned precept money on these ventures, rather than more worthy causes around the town, such as better infrastructure.

It will be interesting to see what the proceeds of the sale of the STC asset Etsome Terrace site is used for. Perhaps a good use would be towards the purchase of another town asset such as Kirkham Street playing field as a public green space or the purchase of a site for a new cemetery as the current cemetery is running out of space fast. However, I suspect not.......
